We are always looking for new volunteers
If you can spare the odd hour or two and importantly you have a genuine interest in supporting people who are mainly older and vulnerable we would be really interested in hearing from you. Two of our Committee members will arrange to meet you informally, to tell you more about the scheme in order that you can make sure that this for you. If you decide that you want to join us as a volunteer we will ask you to complete a simple application form. We ask you to give the names of two people we can contact to comment on your suitability to become a volunteer and we will also require you to undertake an enhanced DBS check for working with adults.
If we feel you are suitable, we will arrange to provide you with an induction and then you will be ready to go. Requests are emailed to all our volunteers and if you are able to assist you let our Volunteer Co-ordinator know. You will be given the name and address of the person, details of what is needed, and any relevant information about their needs eg person uses walking frame. If you have any queries our Volunteer Co-ordinator will be able to assist. Every volunteer will be linked to a Committee member who will keep in regular contact and offer support if required. We are a small friendly group and we hold regular meetings which is an opportunity to raise any issues. Some of these meetings will be for training. We also have an annual get together at Christmas!
