We provide the kind of help a good neighbour might offer

Transport

Our volunteers can take you for appointments at the Village Surgery, Horsham Hospital, the dentist, other local health appointments, the local shops, hairdresser, social clubs, etc.

We have taken some of our service users to Christ’s Hospital for their Covid and flu vaccinations.

Shopping

If shopping has become difficult then we may be able to help. A volunteer could accompany you to the local shops or we could get your shopping for you. Alternatively, we could help you set up a regular online order that can be delivered to your door.

Prescriptions

We can collect your prescription for you. For repeat prescriptions we could help you arrange this to be done by an online pharmacy to have it delivered to your home.

Social Contact

We are acutely aware that people can feel very isolated particularly if their mobility is restricted and they cannot get out. We arrange regular social outings, and we can also offer befriending with a volunteer keeping in touch with regular visits and telephone calls. In partnership with Southwater Village Hall, we also help to run a Games Afternoon every other Wednesday afternoon. Refreshments are provided and it is a great opportunity to have a chat.

What we cannot do

We are not able to offer regular transport to day care centres or out patient appointments at East Surrey and Worthing Hospitals. We are not able to help with household tasks or personal care. We also cannot help with child care.

How it works

Before providing a service we need to visit you. This is in order to obtain basic details, to tell you more about how the service operates, and to make sure we can meet your needs. If possible, we find it helps if you have a family member present. Once we have confirmed that we are able to assist, you can call our number when you need assistance giving us as much notice as possible and our Volunteer Co-ordinator will do their best to arrange a volunteer to assist.
